The island of La Palma

La Palma - the "beautiful" island of the western Canaries is a wholly green island which doesn't stand for mass tourism, but mainly for individual holidays. The diversity of the hiking trips on La Palma is generally acknowledged and is crowned by the national park Caldera de Taburiente. The island impresses with a unique flora, ancient volcanoes, deep gorges, high peaks and mystic forests. The exuberant green and black landscapes establish a magnificent contrast to the blue sea.

At the holiday resorts you can find several lovely beaches which invite you for a cooling in the sea. Nature lovers will also marvel at the remote bays and ecological swimming pools near the cliffy coast.

bathing: In Los Cancajos, Puerto Naos and Tazacorte you will find cultivated, touristically equipped beaches. Specialities include the southern tip of the island, the Playa Nogales and the ecological swimming pools of Charco Azul and La Fajana.

hiking and nature: La Palma offers several first-grade hiking tours of unique character, particularly the Caldera de Taburiente, the big volcano tour from El Pilar to Fuencaliente, the springs of Marcos y Corderos and a Caldera ridge walk round the Roque. The climbings of Pico Bejenado, Birigoyo or Pico de la Nieve offer breathtaking free views to the neighbouring islands of Teneriffa, La Gomera and El Hierro.
